The client asked for a garden room to include a facility for barbecuing, relaxing and watching the game. The design to allow for all year usage the summer evenings where outside / in was key feature and the inclusion of aluminium bi folding doors allowed for bringing the outside into the interior space. The addition of the rooflight assisted the light back into the house rooms which the extension leads from. The roof is visible from the upper kitchen area, so the usage of green roof allowed for a simple softness to be viewed from the kitchen windows. The heating to the area was provided through a picture gas fire which entertainment through wall mounted TV and sound system. The barbecue facility was provided by island style unit and stone work surfaces. An exterior canopy created additional shading in the height of summer.
